As part of our goal to become a zero-waste manufacturer, the idea to develop Dapo’s signature phone holder was for the purpose of reducing excess wood produced at our factory.
The KOCHI phone holder initially began as a paperweight, a block of excess wood born from cutting the outlines of our PEGA board handles. This block was then rounded at the edges to a point that it lightly resembled the ‘Kuih Kochi’ – a sweet Malay glutenous rice dumpling, and later evolved into a more functional item that now comes in 3 modern designs.
Made from PEFC-certified Balau wood residue, this unique product has quickly become our best-selling item and is the perfect example of how waste can be uniquely transformed into new, functional pieces.
